How Is It That

by Sara Tetreault on Saturday, November 12th, 2011

How Is It That

…when we go to the beach in Oregon in November, we have nicer weather than during the summer?

How Is It That

…when we found this little frog, he didn’t hop away and sat still while being photographed?

How Is It That

…my daughter always finds the tiniest creatures around?

How Is It That

…our kids were smart and packed shorts for our weekend get-away while the parents were stuck rolling up their jeans?

How Is It That

…when we have a house to stay in at the Oregon coast it’s sunny and pleasant but every time we’ve ever camped near the coast it’s rained?

How Is It That

…we’ve never seen the sixth season of MacGyver?  Don’t worry – thanks to our public library we’ll be up to date on all things MacGyver very soon!

How Is It That

…when I went to snap a picture of the cinnamon rolls we made this morning they were completely gone?  I mostly follow this recipe for cinnamon rolls.  Mix the dry ingredients at home and bring buttermilk with you.  So easy and so tasty!

Hope you’re enjoying this weekend!

A quick decorating trick from the house is here.

Screen Time Equals Potato Chips

Screen Time Equals Potato Chips

on Thursday, November 1st, 2012

I know that Forest Gump gets credit for the line, “Life is like a box of chocolates…” but the line I’d like credit for is, “Screen time is like potato chips…” and here’s how that math works. We’re a family of four, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, and we’re pretty normal. We like to do {Screen Time Equals Potato Chips}

Sewing Project: The Winter Cape

Sewing Project: The Winter Cape

on Monday, December 20th, 2010

My daughter needed a fancy winter coat and there was no reason to buy one. Winter coats only get worn a few times a year by my kids and a fancy winter coat? Even less so. I thought I’d look for a used coat or perhaps sew one. But, on a Goodwill Clearance Center (code {Sewing Project: The Winter Cape}

Meal planning and cooking most of your meals at home is a great way to save money.  It’s also a much healthier way to eat.  Cooking at home does take time.  Planning, shopping, cooking, and cleaning up all take time.  Slow food requires you to slow down a bit, think about your meals, and do {Slow Food Gets Prepared by Slow Families}

Weekly Meal Plan

on Saturday, January 19th, 2013

After I make our meal plan for the week and post it on the refrigerator, I always announce to my kids, “You can sign up for what night you want to make dinner this week,” meaning put your initials next to the day that works for your schedule. I have them write it down so {Weekly Meal Plan}
