Green Holiday Guide

Green Holiday Guide

I’m thrilled to announce that Go Gingham has collaborated with the City of Portland’s Bureau of Planning and Sustainability on this wonderful Green Holiday Guide.  The City of Portland (Oregon, not Maine) launched a new recycling program this fall and contacted me about their Green Holiday Guide project.  Reducing garbage, eliminating food waste, and decorating your home with simple, classic decorations are all ways to embrace the concept of reduce, reuse, recycle where you live.

Getting into a new habit can be hard.  What goes into the garbage can?  What doesn’t?  What gets recycled curbside?  What doesn’t?  Developing new habits around this new system will help a lot.  Portlanders are doing a great job with the new every-other-week garbage pick up.  And, perhaps more residents will be inspired to try the once-a-month garbage service that our family has.

An added bonus to this project?  I was invited to appear on KATU’s AM NW TV Show to share some ideas and tips to make your holidays greener.  Look out NBC Today Show – here I come!
