IFBC Conference Tips

IFBC in Seattle Public Market

The International Food Blogger Conference (IFBC) begins today in Seattle, Washington. It’s an exciting event full of tasty food – of course! With food bloggers and food writers from across the country – as well as around the world – there are lots of attendees.

IFBC Conference Tips

Here are 3 tips for attending the IFBC conference – or any blogger conference – that I’ve found to be helpful over the years.

  1. Be Professional – Act like a business and a professional and you get treated like one. Leave the yoga pants in the suitcase. Okay, I know they’re comfortable but find some dressier pants and add elastic to the waistband if you need to like I did. And, don’t forget to carry plenty of….
  2. Be Social – Bring business cards! You’d think in the social media world the ancient business card would be passé,  but not so. I always seem to give out all my cards regardless of how many I bring. What’s  great about conferences is the interactions you have with fellow attendees and presenters. After you have spent an hour or more in a session, you always get mingle time to discuss your mutual interests.
  3. Be Positive – All conferences are organized differently (usually for a reason) with various types of speakers and events. Head into each one with an attitude of, “I am going to get the most out of this that I possibly can.” Select the particular programs that you think will be the most interesting and helpful to you, based on what your goals are for your blog.

If you’re attending IFBC, look for me. I’ll be wearing gingham (most likely) and handing out business cards. My yoga pants will be tucked away in my suitcase but as soon as I’m back in my hotel room they’ll be the first thing I put on!

Are you attending IFBC? What would you add to this conference list?

    1. It was absolutely glorious, Rita! I went for a long run on Friday – before it got too hot. Can you believe I’m saying that about Seattle? LOL! We went on a college tour, too. It was a great weekend!
      Thanks! 🙂

    1. Preston,
It was great! Think about it for next year – it’s a fun + action packed conference.
The food alone is worth attending! 🙂

  1. 4. Try Ellenos Greek Yogurt. It’s not that far from where that picture was taken, and I think they have other locations.

    1. Debbie, good tip! I didn’t make it there but will try next time….
The conference had so much good food – I’m still full!
      Thanks, Debbie! 🙂
