Asian Shrimp Noodle Salad
I like the food I cook and eat to have lots of color, lots of health, and lots of taste. Whenever we have a meal that consists of brown rice, roasted cauliflower, and oven roasted whole chicken, it all tastes great and is healthy but it all sort of melds together in a shade of {Asian Shrimp Noodle Salad}
So Simple Curry Chicken Salad
Whenever I cook a whole chicken for dinner, the next night’s dinner is always something with leftover chicken (if there is any with two teenagers!). This is one of my favorite uses of leftover chicken: chicken salad sandwiches with vegetables and curry. It’s good on a sandwich but you can also just serve a scoop {So Simple Curry Chicken Salad}
Smoked Salmon Spread
This is my family’s favorite spread. I have even heard elaborate explanations of why this smoked salmon spread should be eaten with a spoon out of a small bowl. “But, it has dairy and fish. That’s really good for me to eat,” is what I hear when I bust my husband or kids tucked into {Smoked Salmon Spread}
Homemade Cranberry Sauce
This past Sunday, I was looking at the ads in our Sunday newspaper. One of the ads, from a national retailer, who also sells food, included a page with a picture of a Thanksgiving dinner. Aside from the turkey (which they also sell), all of the food in the picture came from a box or {Homemade Cranberry Sauce}
Pumpkin Spice Cake
The thing with recipe testing is that you have to have people other than yourself make your recipes before you hit publish and send it out to the world. When I say “people” I mean the people in my family. So, this past Saturday, I ever so sweetly asked our 15-year-old son, “Do you want {Pumpkin Spice Cake}
Apples, Walnuts, and Cinnamon
This is a recipe my husband has been making for us since we moved into our house, 17 years ago. Our next door neighbors have an apple tree in their front yard and they don’t eat any of the apples from the tree but they’re thrilled that we do. While applesauce is also good to {Apples, Walnuts, and Cinnamon}
How to Roast Tomatoes
There have been so many tomatoes turning red on my tomato vines the past couple of weeks, I’ve been roasting tomatoes like crazy. If you’ve always wanted to know how to roast tomatoes, it’s super easy and there’s no blanching, scooping out of seeds or food waste. Once you’ve roasted tomatoes, you can make {How to Roast Tomatoes}
Indian Spiced Lentils with Pork
My poor family. They’ve eaten lentils so many times for dinner the the past few months. Earlier this summer, I entered a recipe contest for the National Lentil Festival with this recipe but didn’t win. Even though I didn’t even get honorable mention with this recipe, it’s still really tasty and oh, so good for {Indian Spiced Lentils with Pork}
Mediterranean Quinoa Salad
I’m not sure I would have thought to cook with olives if it weren’t for the kids from the books, “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” My children read the books years ago and when my (now) 15-year-old son read about the puttanesca spaghetti served for dinner, he had to try it. I’m not sure he {Mediterranean Quinoa Salad}
Fresh Corn Salad with Balsamic Dressing
This salad is another summer favorite – think bruschetta with corn. All of the ingredients are at their best tasting in summer – especially if they’re coming straight from your garden! Shuck the corn and cut it off – don’t even boil it first – it makes the salad much easier to put together and {Fresh Corn Salad with Balsamic Dressing}
Homemade Yogurt
This is a guest post from sister-in-law, Liana, who is very Go Gingham! She loves good food and is an excellent cook. I always enjoy learning from her and hope you will, too. I began making homemade yogurt 4 years ago, when my daughter started first grade. I was paying over $2 per quart of {Homemade Yogurt}
Happy Father’s Day
Happy Father’s Day! To celebrate Father’s Day, I’d like to honor all Fathers and especially my own, who died suddenly many years ago at the very young age of 51. My dad was a “master griller” meaning he loved to grill on his big Weber Kettle barbeque (charcoal only, of course). Growing up, we always {Happy Father’s Day}
White Bean Dip
This recipe is one I just whipped up for our most recent dinner group gathering, which you’ll hear about very soon. My assignment for dinner group was “appetizer” and the hosts were serving Italian-ish/French-ish food. It’s all good when the hosts use terms like “ish” when they’re describing what they’ll be serving! This dip is {White Bean Dip}
Weekly Meal Plan
We kicked off the summer grilling season and celebrated Memorial Day with hamburgers on the grill this week. We made sliders, which are just small hamburger patties on small buns, and had all the fixings you can imagine. I do believe sliders were invented by someone who wanted to eat more than one burger at {Weekly Meal Plan}
Sour Cream Chipotle Sauce
Every food market we ate at during our home exchange to The Netherlands, had a similar theme: sauce. I loved how no matter what we ordered, they had a sauce to put on top of it. Fried kibberling? Yes, please. French fries? Why, yes, please. When presented with your food, the market attendant would loudly {Sour Cream Chipotle Sauce}
