I Love Pens, Too

I Love Pens, TooAlong with my chair obsession, I also have a thing for pens.  For a lot of women it’s shoes and for men maybe it’s power tools but for some strange reason for me it’s pens.  Yes, I love pens, too.  My favorite is Mr. Sharpie – fine tip, fat tip, medium tip – it doesn’t matter – I love them all.  If I happen to see a big multi-pack of Mr. Sharpie pens at Costco, my super strength will power really has to be summoned otherwise it could be trouble.  When I do bring home a new pen, I make a big production out of getting rid of the old one so that I can justify the new one.  Oh, yes, I love pens.

I Love Pens, Too

Along with my favorite pen, Mr. Sharpie, there’s the Micron archival ink pens otherwise known as the “special occasion pen.”  In case you’re signing a document that needs to last forever or if you’ve been asked to copy over the Declaration of Independence and you need an archival quality ink pen, you’re covered with a Micron pen.  I’m doing neither of these, by the way, I use the Micron pens for writing in scrapbooks or journals.

Don’t forget the cute pen holders.  Yes, that’s a Longaberger basket on the left which was found at “The Bins” (otherwise known as the Goodwill Clearance Center) and was brand new.

I Love Pens, Too

I like to smell pens, too, which I’m sure can’t be good for the brain cell count.  No wonder I tell my kids, “No asking questions after 7:00 pm.”  It couldn’t possibly be because I’m getting older.  Nope.  I’m sure it’s because I’ve smelled too many pens.

Do you have a thing for pens?  Do you like to smell them?

  1. I love, love, love a new pen. When I was in college, I’d go to the art supply store in town and spend an hour trying out all the pens. I’d buy one and couldn’t wait to take notes with my new pen. And now, I have a big collection of pens at home and at work. My preference is a micro-tipped gel pen. Ah yes…

    1. Oh, Mary Ann! Are you the person who fills all of the sample paper at pen stores with your testing? Oh, wait…that’s me! I love taking notes with a new pen, too. Or signing cards with a new one…thank you!

  3. I love pens, but not nearly as much as my husband (an elementary school teacher). Unfortunately, our 6-year-old son loves them even more than both of us combined and has a tendency to “borrow” and then hoard his Daddy’s pens. Then the manly arguments begin…do other wife/mommies have to listen to their boys bicker about Sharpies? LOL

    1. Too funny! I hear arguments about other things but not about pens! Everyone knows not to mess with my pens. And, to put them back in the container facing the right direction. ISSUES! Thanks Emily!

  4. OMG – I love pens too!!!! My favorite is the Pilot Razor Point Extra Fine. I love how they write like a marker but don’t bleed through the page. I really love pens!!! Sharpies are very, very satifying to write with – can’t do without them!!! Thank God someone is finally talking about this!!!

    1. Annie, I’m here for you on the talking! I do like the Pilot, also. I’ve recently found a mechanical pencil that’s pretty snazzy, too. Actually, my daughter brought one home from school. She said her friend gave it to her but perhaps she has the mechanical pencil obsession gene!?!

  5. I am a pen lover and hoarder. I even love free pens with advertisements. I see some of the cutest ones at doctor’s offices advertising drugs. What is wrong with me? On my desk right now is a cup full of pens. But I could go to the Office Depot, Target or Walmart and purchase a whole bunch of different pens, and it would make me so happy. There is something wrong with that!!!

    1. Carol, it’s ok. You won’t be judged for your pen obsession here. Use the super duper will power and just say no to pens! Easier said than done, I know! Thanks for the comment.
