Mother’s Day Giveaway

Mother's Day GiveawayWith Mother’s Day approaching, it’s time for another giveaway with some very sweet handmade items made from re-purposed fabrics.  In case you’ve forgotten, Mother’s day is Sunday, May 13th this year and these purses would be a lovely gift to give someone or keep for yourself.  I love that they’re matching mother and daughter purses but if you don’t have a daughter or you have one who isn’t into matching, just tuck it away for when you need a little gift.

Mother's Day Giveaway

The purses are made by my friend, Meg, of MegExpressions.  Meg sews all of the bags, purses, and wallets from fabric she finds at “The Bins” or from scrap fabric someone gives her.  I was happy to clean out my sewing studio recently and give Meg lots of fabric scraps that she has fashioned into creative and sweet one-of-a-kind items.

  1. What do you like to do on Mother’s day?

My ideal Mother’s day is taking a break from the day-to-day grind of work, cleaning, laundry, and cooking so that I can just truly enjoy the experience of hanging out with my daughter and husband.

  2. On Mother’s Day I like to call all the wonderful Mothers in my life: my Mom, my sisters, my friend’s Mom, and my future mother-in-law.
If I’m with my Mom, whatever she would like. Otherwise we eat normal food.
This Mother’s Day I will be calling my Mom and the other Moms. Also, my sister’s birthday is May 13.

  3. Those are cute bags – they remind me of Vera Bradley – but funkier and hipper! I like to make my kids plant impatiens in my garden on Mother’s Day!

  4. I like to have my mom and my mother-in-law over for brunch on Mother’s Day. While I usually end up doing the majority of the cooking, I don’t mind as it is my way of honoring my mother and mother-in-law. The best part is that I DON’T do any of the clean up!

  5. On Mother’s Day, we will go to church in the morning and then the rest of the day I will spend enjoying my family and the fact that there is a 16-year-old who calls me Mom! 🙂 Unfortunately, my Mom doesn’t live in Oregon but I will be sure and give her a call with my love and appreciation! 🙂

  6. Let’s see – What do I like to do on Mother’s Day? Whatever strikes my fancy when I get up in the morning. Sometimes, I send the family to church, and stay home and enjoy the peace and quiet. I’ve cleaned out my closet and various cabinets. I’ve re-arranged the stuff in the garage. Some years, that’s the day we put out tomatoes, I sit outside in a comfy chair (or I snuggle on the couch under a blanket – this is Oregon, after all). My favorite meal —– that’s a hard one —- we don’t have any traditional food on Mother’s Day. If the family has offered to cook, well, then, my favorite meal is whatever they decide to fix. If they ask about going out to a restaurant, then it depends on how much we want to spend. And, last but not least — I don’t yet have a clue what I’m doing on Mother’s Day this year! I’ll see my Mom the day before, and will do something with her (she’ll be 90 in June). We’ll just have to wait and see what others come up with.

  8. This Mother’s Day I will be doing what I do every Mother’s Day–leading Kids Church involving craft stations for the kids to make gifts for their mothers. This year they are making a “Relaxation Zone” door hanger, a milk bath packet, scented bath salts and decorating a scented candle for their mommies.

  9. What do we like to do on Mother’s Day? Wake Mommy up with flowers and tea. And then off to brunch! Brunch, brunch, brunch! Preferably with champagne. And then after, it’s a lot of ‘What does Mommy like?’. Probably a nap. Then we make a surprise dinner. And then whatever the little one decides.

  10. My favorite Mother’s Day meals are the breakfasts my 3 girls prepare for me. Can’t wait to see what’s on the menu this year!

  11. My favorite meal on Mother’s day?

I like a fun brunch with sausage, fruit, some sort of pastry and juice. I usually find some sort of new recipe and make the pastry ahead of time and freeze it, that makes it easy for my husband or daughter to make up. In the last couple of years though my daughter has been doing more baking and cooking and I love to see what she comes up with!
