Go Gingham Upcoming Speaking Events

After speaking at BlogHer Food in Seattle last yearand having a blast – I was thrilled to be asked to speak at the popular food blogging conference again. This year’s BlogHer Food conference is being held in Austin, Texas and I have never been there. I’m trying out AirBnB for the first time. I’ll let you know how it goes!

I’m so fortunate to have these speaking opportunities and am thankful that the interest in living well on less continues to grow. Thank you, readers, for coming back to this site and spreading the word about Go Gingham!

Upcoming Speaking Events

  • Saturday, June 8, 2013 10:15am – BlogHer Food in Austin, TX  – Food preservation and reducing food waste – “Use it or Lose it.”

Nose-to-tail eating is all the rage these days, but what about stem-to-pit? Or yolk-to-shell? How do you optimize seasonal foods in their peak of abundance, extend their value and longevity through preservation – and also minimize food waste?  Our instructors will tag-team a few common seasonal ingredients, showcasing how to make the most of every bit of them, and more!

I will be joined by Kate Payne and Sean Timberlake for this demonstration.

After a fun-filled weekend in Austin, I’m coming home to two more speaking events.

  • Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 6:30pm – Canby Public Library – Frugal living secrets: spend less while living richly.
  • Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00am – Lake Oswego Public Library – Keeping chickens on a small urban farmstead – otherwise known as a backyard!

Go Gingham Stylishly Frugal Living Approved

I can’t tell you how much I love to remind my kids that there are people who actually want to hear what I have to say. Generally, this happens while my hands are on my hips or maybe a finger is being pointed at the sky.

All of my upcoming, and past, speaking events can be found on my professional site. If you’d like me to speak to your group, organization or at a conference, please check my services page for all of my talks. I come early, stay late, and always wear a cute second-hand outfit. You can contact me or send me an email at hello@saratetreault dot com.

Have you ever been to Austin? Is it going to be hot while I’m there? What should I do while I’m there? Have you ever used AirBnB?

  1. Hey Sara–

Check out ecocatlady.blogspot.com on Tuesday, May 28’s post. Ecocatlady posted about Denver and invited others to comment about their hometowns–there is a very informative comment about Austin! I have never been there so I have zero comments to give you. Enjoy your trip.

  2. Sara, way to go on a return speaking engagement with BlogHer Food! Glad to see that your talents are getting noticed in the larger arena. I have never been to Austin but would love to visit someday ~ I hear it’s beautiful! Karl recommends sightseeing at the Capitol and the UT campus, as well as listening to some local music!! I look forward to reading about your adventure soon on Go Gingham. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks, Darcy! You’re the second person of the day to recommend the UT campus and music. Must be THE things to do in Austin.
I’m really excited and also looking forward to being nice and warm in that Texas weather!
Thanks for writing in and tell Karl thank you for the tips.

  3. Great news! You’re going to have a great time. If Austin City Limits is happening while you’re there, you should try to get a ticket. They have great shows! I think you’ll like airbnb a lot. We’ve had great luck with them!

    1. Oh, Erin, I’m so excited to hear of your great luck with airbnb! The price was sooooo much better than the fancy conference hotel and I’ll have a kitchen. It’s only a few block walk and that will be fine after sitting for several hours.
I’m not sure how much free time I’ll have during the 3 days I’m there but I’ll try to squeeze the show in.
      Thanks for the tip!

  4. My Lake Oswego home is ever-so-close to the public library. In other words, driving distance, as our place is in Lake Grove. But if I still lived there, I would be at your talk for sure. And I’m still trying to figure out how to make actual money as a speaker, as opposed to my speaking fee of … pittance. I hope you get asked for even more speaking engagements.

    1. Thanks, Alexandra! It seems ideal – I love to talk and now it’s my job! All the making money stuff is tricky but it seems like the creative-multi-source program works best. So glad to have met you and I’ll look forward to our next conference together! Thanks, and I enjoyed hearing you speak in Austin. 🙂
