Smart and Simple for the New Year

Smart and Simple for the New Year from Go GinghamHappy New Year! It’s that time of the year when we make New Year’s resolutions and embrace new habits – or continue with the same good habits from last year. The theme I’m embracing – both here on Go Gingham and at our home is…

Smart and Simple for the New Year

My plan is to base decisions on whether they’re smart and simple. I’m done with smart and complicated and leaving behind dumb and difficult. Seriously. Repeat after me – smart and simple.

From cooking and home organization to healthy eating and workout routines – smart and simple. From parenting and our family life to entertaining and house projects – smart and simple.

Last year’s theme was all about saving on expenses and “Reducing FAITH” –
F – Food
A – Apparel – clothing for yourself and your home
I – Insurance
T – Transportation
H – Housing

This year’s theme is smart and simple. I want everything in life to be smart and simple, don’t you?

What’s your theme for the New Year?

  1. Great concept. This new year for me will be “Transition & Travel”. I’m looking forward to upcoming changes and future travel plans.

Each year I & my friends in my wine club make up a rhyming motto and individually interpret it for the year!

  3. I seem to naturally gravitate toward smart and simple, so I’m looking forward to your posts. If anything is too hard … I won’t do it. Maybe another word choice would be “lazy” …

    1. Kris! LOL! I promise you – it won’t be too hard. Like everything else, the hardest part for me is just getting started. If I have to do something weekly then it’s better. I need a routine! 🙂
Thanks, Kris. Happy New Year to you and your family.

  4. After spending a delightful New Year’s evening with longtime friends and watching old videos of all the kids at the beach from the last 14 years, I have made it my mission to go through our old tapes and have them transferred to dvds so that they are easier to view. So I guess that my theme will be “A look back.” It fits in with the simple part of your theme since the tapes are too hard and time consuming to view now! Hopefully I can translate your theme into other aspects of my life and our family life as well.
May 2014 be another fabulous year for Go Gingham!!

    1. Thanks, Darcy!
I think that is a lovely idea to transfer the old videos. Your family will love it! What a treat and fun to see as the kids grow up and become young adults.
Thanks, Darcy, for the kind words and well wishes!
