Early Summer Dinner Group

Entertaining with Go Gingham

Is there anything better than having a fabulous dinner outside on a summer evening with friends? Nope – especially when it’s a pot-luck style dinner and it’s being hosted elsewhere. Dinner group – I adore you!

Table setting Go Gingham

Our dinner group has been meeting for many years. We rotate homes or backyards, depending on the weather.

There are 4 couples in our dinner group and everyone loves to cook and eat good food.

The hosting couple sets the menu and assigns appetizers, salad, and dessert. And, everyone brings a drink to share.

Here’s what we enjoyed:

  • Appetizers: grilled vegetables with fresh herb oils – we brought these
  • Salad: fresh arugula salad with tangy dressing
  • Main dish: grilled leg of lamb and potatoes
  • Dessert: caramel and macadamia cheesecake from The Ottolenghi cookbook

Yes, I suppose we could go out to dinner but why would we? Good food, good friends, and good drinks in a gorgeous setting – it’s frugal, fancy and fun! Entertaining, enjoying the company of good friends, and sharing in the work of cooking – when can we do this again?

What’s your favorite dish to bring to a pot-luck style dinner party?
