Good luck! Can’t wait to read all of your answers!
I don’t think I’ve ever given fresh fruit as a gift but I have done preserves.

Oh, I just love Harry & David pears! We would give pears or honeybell oranges from Florida when we gave fruit, unless of course, we had made jam.

That’s a tough one – both make such great gifts. I think it depends on the season, but in MN it’s always fun to give a gift of fresh fruit in the winter. And also fun to give (or receive!) a gift of homemade preserves.

West Michigan is a big fruit-growing area and it would be hard to choose what I would give–we regularly share blueberries, cherries, and apples with family members.

I have given fresh fruit occasionally–when something is so perfect at the Farmers Market, for example. We sent a box of the Harry & David pears to my stepson and his family a few years ago. He called and said “I finally feel like a grown-up.” He was remembering when patients would send Harry & David pears and other gifts to his father’s medical practice…
Preserves are a terrific gift, and have the advantage of not being tied to a single ripeness season.
BOTH, in this best of all possible worlds!

I’ve given both fresh and preserved fruit, so it depends on what is available. We have made many types of jams, preserves, jellies, and syrups from fruits that grow near us, and they are such a great change from store-bought products. I do love fresh fruit, though, too!
