Remember when the quilt went to college with my son? Well, now my daughter has gone off to college. So now both kids are away at college and we are officially empty-nesters. (It’s awesome, by the way.) To take up all of our spare time, we have been building a teardrop trailer camper.
You know I love camping but, I don’t want to sleep on the ground anymore. So this is our solution – a 4′ x 8′ teardrop camper trailer – fondly known as “Scamper.”
First, you have to build a trailer frame. Our frame is from Harbor Freight. Then, we bought the plans for the camper from Big Woody. Next, we spent time building it.
Yes, our 4-cylinder Jeep will tow it. Yes, it fits in our garage. No, it’s not done yet but it’s close! Yes, I sold the vintage travel trailer because our car wouldn’t tow it and we’re not getting a new car. In fact, we are down to one car!
What have you been up to?
Sara,
I was excited when I got your email and could not wait to go on gogingham . Glad you are back. Always loved reading your blog.

Hi Sara!
Not sure what made me click over to you–I kinda thought you were done blogging–anyway, love your new Scamper! I’m working on talking my husband into purchasing a used truck camper when we are empty nesters–that way, we can still haul the boat when we camp. I don’t mind tent camping so much, but I hate hiking to the bathrooms at 2:00 a.m.! Hoping to move away from that scenario!
Hard to believe you are empty nesters. I now have a high schooler and a middle schooler. Time marches on!

So good to hear from you and I’m with you on the hating the hike to the bathroom at 2:00am, too.
How are your kids getting to be so old?! Time does keep going forward. 🙂
Happy holidays and 2018!! xoxo
