I admit that sometimes I buy things at estate sales and I have no idea what I’ll do with them. Last spring, I found these little metal circles on a ring. They are heavy and came connected to a circular holder, with a small opening at one end. These were really interesting and I knew eventually inspiration would hit. After they sat on top of my refrigerator for 6 months, I decided it was time to fashion them into frugal and stylish wine glass charms.
Wine charms seem like a good idea to me. Hey, who wants to lose their wine glass or get it mixed up with their neighbor’s? But, I have yet to see wine charms that aren’t cheap, flimsy, and ready to fall apart after being used a time or two. These have some serious staying power!
How to Make Wine Glass Charms
After removing the circles from the ring, I rounded up some stickers that I had from scrapbooking and carefully placed them on each round disk.
Notice how I only used letters that don’t get used very often? I probably won’t be using these letters in other projects.
Next, I found ribbon and twine that could be used to attach the charms to the wine glasses. Here I used leftover ribbon scraps.
And here I used twine.
All that’s left is to tie them onto the glasses.
These look so pretty and festive! Now, I just need to set the table and I’m ready to entertain.
To store them, I placed them back on the little ring. I couldn’t re-use the ribbon and twine. We served crab at the dinner party and everything was a bit “crabby.”
Even though I wanted little name tags on my wine glasses, I couldn’t justify purchasing any. I don’t like to waste my money even if it is only a few dollars. Total cost for this project? $2.00. And, I used up some leftover ribbon and twine scraps from my collection.
Simple, easy, and pretty projects that cost very little and use up scraps? Very Go Gingham!
What have you bought at an estate sale recently? What do you use for keeping track of wine glasses?
