I love being invited to someone’s house for dinner – especially when they say don’t bring a thing! Of course, I would never dream of showing up empty handed. A bottle of wine is always a welcomed hostess gift. But wine bottles need a little dressing up during the holiday season.
This made a lovely holiday hostess gift for a recent dinner party we were invited to attend. An ornament and vintage gift tag make a sweet (and inexpensive) addition to an otherwise uninteresting wine bottle.
A quick ironing of the ribbon takes all of the wrinkles out. Iron ribbons and trim the ends with very sharp scissors to re-use them again and again. Just make sure you don’t iron plastic ribbon.
The card and ornament are both estate sale finds. Gift wrapping supplies and Christmas ornaments are inexpensive and plentiful at estate sales. Yes, you can purchase these items new but why would you?

I love vintage Christmas ornaments! The older they get, the better the patina. And you are right, they can be found at sales for a song!
