Lights, Camera, Action!

Go Gingham TV Show Premiere Party Big news at Go Gingham!  Fusion NW was at our home recently to film a couple of segments for their show.  Fusion NW airs locally in Portland on KOIN 6, Saturday mornings at 8am.  It was very exciting and even inspired me to do a little house cleaning before the crew arrived.  The first segment aired this past Saturday and the second should be airing soon.  Our neighbors hosted a premiere party.  These are really nice neighbors because the show airs at 8am, so they were up pretty early.  We dragged our kids out of bed,  hurried down the street, and were at the party before the show began.  Pajamas were the required attire!

Lights, Camera, Action!

Lights. One of the segments was filmed in our bedroom and I hope to never have that many lights in our bedroom again.  We only have a light fixture in the bedroom because wires used to hang there.  The light bulb is a 25 watt and is rarely even turned on!  When the bright lights were turned on, everyone looked up and joked about how that’s what everyone does when the lights go on in a home.  I’m sure there were plenty of cob webs up there, but much like a train wreck, I was trying to not look.  Spring cleaning hadn’t occurred yet!

Camera. Yes, thankfully, the bed was made, with all credit going to my husband.  I was too busy putting on lipstick!  When the crew came into our bedroom, someone asked, “Where’s all the clutter?”  No clutter.  At least, not upstairs, where all of our bedrooms are located.  Having a spot for everything and a system for keeping a home organized really helps keep clutter to a minimum.  Now, if the filming were taking place in the basement, say in my sewing studio, which is next to my chair stash, then we’d have clutter.  Although, I like to think of those chairs as my “entertainment” and works in progress.

Action. Every time the phone rings here we joke that it’s Oprah calling with my show offer.  Yes, I’d love to do more shows or perhaps have my own.  I’m not really a writer, that’s why I call myself a “blogger” because I’m just typing up what I’d say to you, if you were sitting next to me.  I’m much more of a talker.  A “Let’s Go Gingham” TV show is what I’m thinking so I’ll let you know when Oprah calls!

Of course no party is complete without champagne!

Go Gingham TV Show Premiere PartyA morning celebration calls for mimosas, right?  Of course!

Go Gingham TV Show Premiere PartyAll in all, this was very fun and I love having another way of sharing my stylishly frugal ways. Thank you for reading, sharing, and commenting.  I hope you’ll stay tuned!

Fusion NW airs in Portland, OR on Saturdays at 8am on KOIN 6.

What do you think of my television show idea? Do you think Oprah will call me soon?

    1. You just totally confirmed the friend steal! Thank you. Next up on the “Carrie & Sara Show” is how we teach Carrie how to sew! Thanks for the comment.

  2. Oprah needs to wake up and call your bad self! How fun to see you in action (you are tall!) and take a peek at your house with the gorgeous built in cabinets. You did great on air and are a natural. Congratulations Sara — I hope your site explodes with traffic and that you get a ton of wonderful positive exposure!

p.s. I have those same Kleenexes — we buy them in bulk from Costco. But they are not covered with those cute slipcovers because I cannot figure out how to thread my bobbin correctly either…

    1. Wendy! I’m going to have to get you and Carrie together for a sewing class. Thank you for your kind words. I’m not as tall as you think…it was the camera. Also, my kids are gaining on me so I have to pretend to be taller!

  3. Here’s what I really love about that slipcover TV spot… using small amounts of fabric to bring together the room in a stylish way – fabric that I can either get seriously inexpensively, or already have! This is not just Oprah-worthy, it’s Martha-esque. Only much more Frugal. That’s seriously stylish. Only – I’m bobbin challenged as well…. luckily, my husband sews. Way to go SARA!

  4. Way to go, Sara! I would love to have you as a guest at one of my monthly informal Meetups! And, while I don’t use kleenex (I’m a hankie gal), you can still use the box covers to store hankies in (repurpose an old box to store the hankies in). A BIG congrats to you!!
