We have baby chicks at our house and they’re doing just what babies do – eating, pooping, sleeping, and growing. I think they’re drinking water but I can’t tell because I never see them drinking. They’re so adorable when they’re cute and small. They’re starting to lose their downy fuzz and grow feathers. They’re turning into teen chickens. We had to replenish our flock after having to get rid of one of our hens last fall. She was going through “the change” in life and had stopped laying and was attacking another hen. I sure hope my family won’t take me to a farm and get rid of me when I go through the change!
The chicks are so curious and are constantly on the move. We think one may be a rooster. That’s a problem when you live in the city like we do. We’ve already had 2 roosters.
I think they’re already planning a chicken run.
Yes, we named them, even though you’re not supposed to, but they’re our pets. Soon they’ll be giving us fresh eggs and I can’t wait.
It takes about 8 weeks until they’re ready to go out to the coop with our other backyard chickens. Hens start laying when they’re about 6 months old.
We’ll hope all goes well in the hen-house and that the pecking order gets established quickly without any hen-pecking.

So cute!!! We want a couple more chickens and I am thinking of getting pullets, but these babies make me want to get chicks again! Funny how this does NOT make me want any more actual babies!

I hear ya’ on the babies!! The chicks are so cute but for such a short period of time….now the chicks are being naughty and I’m wishing for pullets!! They spilled their water (of course) and everything was dripping wet – all at my bedtime 9pm 🙂
