Your wedding day is a special day. It is the union between your beloved and you. Every relationship is unique and deserves unique recognition. Since my fella sprouts from Kansas, I hail from Oregon, and we reign in Alaska; we have decided on a super simple ceremony. Just the parents will be here, local family will wed us, and local friends will capture the love. We know it’s expensive to fly and stay in Alaska; we are saving our loved ones the money. Of course, I would adore having them all here, but if they can’t be here for the action; we ask they support our union through the years.
Personalizing a Wedding
Given the timing of the engagement, the size of the wedding, and the stress of nursing school, I have had a lot of time and energy to put into personalizing our wedding. I discovered this book

and went wild making my own flowers. I went to my local yarn store in Anchorage and found my yarn. Consider making your bouquet. It lasts forever, it is unique, and economical. Don’t be intimidated by the idea; go for it.
We personalized our vows and my mom is sewing my dress. I knitted a lace shawl, instead of a veil. I made hair combs, and pins for the women in the wedding. A friend made our rings and you can see her Etsy page here. As for the gents, I knitted ties for them to rock. I’ll be posting about them here very soon.
Our wedding is stylishly frugal and very Go Gingham and I think my sister would approve!

My grandmother was married in the 1920’s in the winter in Kansas. They made all their flowers out of paper, and I always thought they looked gorgeous in the photos!
