Weekly Meal Plan

Someone asked me recently if there was one tool I’d like for my kitchen. Yes, I’d like a scullery maid. (A scullery maid is someone who does the dishes.) It would be just peachy to have someone clean-up after me when I’m cooking in the kitchen. Honestly, it’s the only reason I think about going out to dinner these days so that there aren’t any dishes or mayhem, post a cooking frenzy. Even with my kids cooking a weekly dinner and cleaning up after their meal, I still dream of a scullery maid.

What’s a girl to do without one?

I crank up the music, don my rubber gloves, and pour some wine. It only takes about 10 minutes, unless pots and pans need to soak, and then they’re done. I also like it if someone sits in the kitchen and chats with me while I clean up…just saying.

Weekly Meal Plan

This meal plan is from Monday, November 26, 2012 to Sunday, December 2, 2012. Weekly meal planning saves money on our food bill, minimizes food waste, and keeps me from sighing around dinner time and saying, “Let’s go out to eat,” which I used to proclaim more often. If you’re looking for more reasons to meal plan, check HERE.

Monday: whole wheat pasta with pesto (from the freezer) and green salad

Tuesday: eggs, veggies, and leftover pasta

Wednesday: sports banquet at high school dinner

Thursday: fish, brown rice, salad

Friday: pulled pork BBQ sandwiches and cole slaw

Saturday: pulled pork BBQ sandwiches and cole slaw (leftovers)

Sunday: whole wheat pasta with puttanesca and tomatoes (from roasting this past summer) and green salad

My daughter made dinner on Monday and my son made dinner on Sunday so I guess those were my “scullery maid” nights!

    1. Erin, I bought a Krups brand immersion blender for $3.00 at an estate sale and have been very happy with it. It was my second estate sale immersion blender because the first one didn’t work when I got it home! Plug it in and try it if purchasing it second-hand is all I can say. 🙂

    1. I have no idea how it gets so dirty! I should never wear my reading glasses while in the kitchen because then I can really see how dirty it is. Darn that scullery maid! 😉

  1. I love my immersion blender! I am skeptical of any kitchen gadget that takes up space/can only be used for one purpose. The immmersion blender is very versatile – it is great for soups and sauces. I use it right in the pan. I bought a no-name inexpensive one for about $15 because I was unsure the device would be worth $75 and because it had a plastic end so it would not scratch my pan. That was 8 years ago and it is still going strong.

    1. Wow, Michelle, good to know! I often wonder if the no name brands will be worth it or not but it sounds like you picked a winner.
I need to use mine more often and forget about. Good reminders. Thanks!
